Dinner with the Neighbors

Friday night, Thomas's coworker with two boys our boys age came back from their vacation so we invited them over for shrimps. The oldest couldn't make it, but the boys had a great time with Anton. Thomas has had this particular type of shrimps his whole life, but it turns out they had never eaten them quite like this before. (I had with Thomas in Norway).

Those are fresh boiled shrimp, first you peel them, then put them on buttered bread, then add aioli or mayo on top...
It's pretty good and a perfect meal for a warm summer night and yesterday was one of the warmest so far (in the 80's).

I made a pesto pasta salad with it...
Delicious:)
Here is the family we had dinner with. They live behind us so it's perfect! After dinner the boys went to their house to jump on the trampoline (they have been dying to go on a trampoline since they see them everywhere here).

Getting ready for the dinner was fun as usual (I quite enjoy shopping for groceries and such). Here is a pic of how they sell Romaine lettuce...
Notice it actually has a pot at the bottom and its roots. I guess it would keep it fresher longer.

Thomas and Alex put away the groceries and I was looking for the pasta...I found it in the fridge:)

To buy any alcohol, you have to go to a special store. I think it's state run. They have quite a selection of boxes wines here, and they are pretty good quality, it's quite the popular thing to do.

The bottom brand must be targeting women because it is shaped like a purse with leopard print:)

Also the beer you buy by the bottle,
They are all on display, Ben says it looks like a shoe store:)

In general, people here don't talk to strangers in line at the grocery store, but one thing that they always do is put the separater after their groceries for the next person in line. I have forgotten a couple of times, but it seems like this is a must!

Just a random pic I took of the shampoos. They do have some of the same brands we have, but they are packages much smaller, not sure if you get the perspective from this pic.
